What RingJini keeps, and why
RingJini answers calls on your behalf, so it handles two kinds of personal data: yours, and the caller's. This notice says what we keep of each, who helps us, for how long, and how to delete it. It covers the beta and will be updated before launch.
Who we are
RingJini is operated by RingJini, in India. For anything about your data, write to privacy@ringjini.com. The grievance contact for this notice is Sukul Bagai, at the same address.
What we collect about you
- Your account: your mobile number (used to sign in, with a one-time code by SMS), the name you give, the name and language you choose for your assistant, and the date and version of the notice you agreed to.
- Your line: the number RingJini protects, your network, which SIM, whether forwarding is on, and whether screening is paused.
- Your rules: the sentences you write, how RingJini understood them, and the choices you make for each kind of call.
- Your business details, if you switch on “answer as your business”: the name, what it does, areas, hours and the questions and answers you give.
- Your phone: a token so we can send notifications, the app version, and whether the phone can screen calls.
- Your feedback: when you mark a call “should have rung” or similar.
- The beta sign-up form: your number, email, phone type, network, the situations you tick and the note you write.
What we collect about each call RingJini answers
When your network forwards a call to RingJini, we keep the caller's number (or that it was hidden), when the call happened and how long it lasted, what was said (as a transcript), a short summary, how the call ended and why, and whether RingJini rang you and you answered. The caller's words are processed to answer them and to show you what happened.
Callers are told. RingJini introduces itself as an AI assistant and says the call is transcribed, at the start of every call, before anything else is said. We process callers' data on your behalf, so that you can decide what to do about their call.
Calls that are never screened (your contacts, numbers you've called recently, 1600 and 140 numbers, and calls that reach you straight through) are not transcribed. Some of them pass through RingJini's number for a moment to reach you; we keep only that the call happened, when, and how it ended.
Who helps us run RingJini
- Plivo carries the phone calls: the forwarded leg from the caller and the leg to you when RingJini connects you. Plivo sees the phone numbers and the call audio in transit, as any phone network does.
- Google provides the AI. During a screened call, the caller's audio is streamed to Google's Gemini service, which listens and speaks for RingJini; after the call, Google's text models write the summary. RingJini does not keep the call audio itself; what we keep is the transcript and the summary.
- Google Firebase sends your sign-in code by SMS and delivers notifications to your phone.
- Our servers and database. Our database is in Mumbai, India. During the setup phase our application servers run in Singapore; they move to India before the beta opens to people outside the team.
We don't sell your data, and we don't show you advertising. Nothing in this notice lets us use your calls for anything other than running RingJini for you.
How long we keep it
- Transcripts, summaries and the record of each call: until you delete them (one call, every call, or your account).
- Your account, line, rules and business details: until you delete your account.
- Beta sign-ups: until the beta ends, or on request. If you join, the sign-up becomes part of your account.
- Server logs, kept for security and to fix problems, hold no transcripts and no full phone numbers, and are deleted on a short rolling basis.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, delete it, or withdraw your consent, and raise a grievance. Most of this you can do yourself in the app: delete a call, delete every call, undo setup, delete your account. For anything else, write to privacy@ringjini.com; we reply within the time the law allows, and sooner when we can. See also delete your account.
If someone has called you and wants to know what RingJini kept of their call, they can write to the same address; we'll need to confirm the number they called from.
Children
RingJini is for adults. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes
When this notice changes in a way that matters, the app asks you to agree again before RingJini answers another call. The version is at the top of this page.
